JMP® 7 Debuts at SAS® Global Forum

ORLANDO, FL (April 18) – During a week of technology demos and buzz over business visualization – or "biz viz" – JMP 7 software made its debut at SAS Global Forum 2007, the annual SAS users conference. Version 7 of this desktop statistical discovery software from SAS will ship to customers May 1, with new and enhanced features designed for traditional JMP users from the scientific community as well as business users who need to delve deep into their data to understand their enterprise inside and out.

Also at the user conference, SAS unveiled SAS Visual BI, a server-based solution that combines the power of SAS analytics with the dynamic visualization capabilities of JMP. With SAS Visual BI, companies can explore ideas, investigate patterns and discover previously hidden facts through visual queries.

While other vendors claim that their software works with SAS, only JMP – a SAS product – truly delivers two-way integration.

"JMP brings your data to you in a way that is close, personal and allows direct data manipulation," said Sall, the Executive Vice President and co-founder of SAS. Sall, who is the leading architect of JMP, described features of JMP 7 in a presentation to user conference participants. "Everything in JMP is active on the surface. Changes happen instantly, eliminating the usual step of sending a job to the server and retrieving the results."

What’s new in JMP 7? Bubble plots, 3-D scatterplots and other new features let users animate graphs, replacing static charts with motion-enabled, interactive plots that uncover hidden trends and let you predict the future, not just see the past. Data filters let you select, exclude hide or otherwise filter data, then JMP 7 updates graphs and reports automatically, so you can answer "what if" questions based on any combination of factors.

"JMP is more than a different business visualization tool," said John Leary, Director of JMP Sales and Marketing. "It’s an entirely different way of approaching data: it’s dynamic, it’s interactive and it’s visual."

Already, more than 100,000 users rely on the unique visualization capabilities of JMP, which enables users to:

  • Explore a virtually unlimited number of records. Spreadsheets stop at 65,000 rows and 256 columns.
  • Query the data visually for whatever questions you can think to ask.
  • Interact with the data, gaining instantaneous insight into relationships and patterns.
  • See long-term trends instead of limited year-to-date views.
  • Create graphics with many distinct variables – and watch as trends become clear.
  • Make smarter, quicker decisions based on your insights.
