SAS Expert to Offer Genetics Course at JSM
Russ Wolfinger, Director of Scientific Discovery and Genomics for SAS, will co-teach a continuing education class at the Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM) next month in Denver. Genetic and Microarray Data Analysis will be taught by Wolfinger and Carl Langefeld, PhD, Head of Statistical Genetics & Bioinformatics for Wake Forest University Health Sciences. Langefeld has used SAS for many years and is an expert statistical geneticist involved in a number of large genome-wide association studies.
The Joint Statistical Meetings, the largest gathering of statisticians held in North America, is expected to draw some 5,000 attendees to the Colorado Convention Center Aug. 2-7.
Genetic and Microarray Data Analysis will be offered Saturday, Aug. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. An intermediate-level course, it is designed for statisticians who want to learn about statistical genetics, microarray data analysis, and prediction with genomic biomarkers. It will include a mixture of theory and practical examples and will use JMP Genomics software and custom scripts for illustration. For registration information, visit the JSM Web site.
