Custom Design of Experiments Using JMP Software: No Pain. Just Gain.
Wednesday, June 14
Courtyard Minneapolis Downtown at The Depot, Minneapolis, MN

Dr. Nachtsheim presents a modern approach to designing experiments that makes DOE simpler, cheaper and even more powerful than textbook methods. JMP's Bradley Jones demonstrates how JMP supports experimental design and analysis.

Dr. Chris Nachtsheim is the Chair of Operations and Management Sciences at the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. He has co-authored a number of university textbooks, including Applied Linear Statistical Models .

JMP User Conference Presenters - Audio Interviews

Hear short recordings from some of the speakers who will be featured at this June's JMP User Conference. Get a sneak peak at what they will present and why they encourage you to attend.

Melvin Alexander is a Research Statistician at the National Study Center for Trauma and Emergency Medical Systems, University of Maryland's Medical Center in Baltimore. JMP helped his team avoid unnecessary administration of expensive anti-coagulants to trauma patients.

Nathan Clark is a research associate at IDEXX Laboratories in Westbrook, Maine. He uses JMP Design of Experiments to help develop new veterinary products.

Darian Rashid is Managing Director and Six Sigma Master Black Belt with VR Data Systems, Inc. Learn about his process simulation work in transactional and service environments.

Tonja K. Summitt is Director of the Program Office for Enterprise Planning and Strategic Initiatives at Wachovia. Tonja used JMP to dramatically improve a process for timely turnaround of account transfers for her wealth customers.

Modern Time Series Approaches for Quality in Manufacturing: Moving Beyond Run Rules and Control Charts
Friday, July 7
Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village, Princeton, NJ

This presentation will exposit the use of autocorrelations in process modeling, emphasize forecasting for control, elucidate the bounded control chart and describe the remarkable time series qualities of the EWMA (Exponentially Weighted Moving Average). The influence of changing time intervals between observations will also be discussed. The intersecting roles of the classical quality engineer with that of the engineering process control engineer will become obvious.

Dr. Hunter, recipient of the Shewhart and Deming Medals, will help you move beyond today's commonly used control chart methodology and on to improve your processes using modern time series approaches.

Why Attend Next Month's JMP User Conference?

Don't listen to us, hear what your fellow JMP users say about the conference:

"The JMP User Conference exposes participants to new ideas and enhances their understanding. To put it in statistical terms, the conference decreases one's entropy."
J. Stuart Hunter, Ph.D.
Co-author of Statistics for Experiments by Box, Hunter and Hunter

"Fascinating! I left wanting to do more with statistics, and JMP will allow me to do that in a fun way."
Alejandra Pascual
Senior Research Associate
Pioneer-Hi-Bred International, Inc.

"Such an interesting variety of users! I enjoyed the presentations and learned a lot. Thanks for a great JMP User Conference."
Richard Litvin
Associate Professor of Law
Quinnipiac University School of Law

Ninety-four percent of last year's attendees said they would recommend the conference to a friend or colleague. Find out why and register today!

RPI Student Brings Virtual Recording Studio to JMP User Conference

The winner of the student scholarship for the JMP User Conference, Daniel Valente, just received his Master's Degree in Architectural Acoustical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), and is continuing in the Doctoral program. Under the guidance of his advisor, Jonas Braasch, Daniel has performed basic research towards developing the virtual recording studio of the future.

He is also working on combining surround sound with three-dimensional video projection to create an environment where instruments and auditory events can be freely positioned graphically in space and time.

At the User Conference, he will describe how he used JMP to design experiments that enabled him to optimize an auditory rendering playback system that maximizes the ability of the potential audience to pinpoint a sound source. Come by and meet Daniel.

Interactive Data Mining and DOE: Accelerating Improvement in Six Sigma

This paper will be presented by Philip J. Ramsey, University of New Hampshire, at the 50th Annual Fall Technical Conference, Friday, October 13, in Columbus, OH.

Six Sigma initiatives in today's organizations require interactive and flexible tools to visualize and explore data for project identification, analysis, and improvement. Partition analysis, an exploratory data mining technique, allows the user to analyze large or unruly data tables to quickly identify potential high value projects, explore complex interactions, and infer relationships. DOE provides a structure for establishing causal relationships suggested by the partition analysis. Combining partition analysis and DOE provides a powerful approach that accelerates improvement by leveraging existing data sources. These techniques will be illustrated using the JMP software.
