Refine Your Analytic Craft
Mastering JMP, presented in collaboration with SAS Education, is a series of complimentary, hands-on workshops and Webcasts for JMP users. Workshop attendees will experience a daylong apprenticeship with JMP technical experts. Ongoing Webcasts - live and on demand - can be accessed from the desktop and will feature topics relevant to the pursuit of data mastery. Whether you join a workshop, a Webcast or both, our experts will help you make the most of the extensive analysis and data visualization features in JMP.
Reflections on Why SAS Succeeds
On Jan. 21, FORTUNE magazine announced that SAS held the top spot in its 2010 study of the Best Companies to Work For. The same day, SAS announced that its revenues had grown 2.2 percent in 2009, despite a challenging economy. John Sall, co-founder of SAS and head of the JMP division, shares his thoughts on why the company has been successful and continues to get noticed as a leader in the analytics market.
Making Sense of Life Sciences Data
In life sciences, collecting data isn't the problem. Making sense of it is today's greatest challenge. Plan now to attend any of a series of East Coast seminars that demonstrate how JMP and JMP Genomics help researchers derive meaning from vast data stores. A New York City event on Feb. 16, hosted by New York University's Center for Genomics and Systems Biology, will focus on the use of data visualization and analysis in medicine. Seminars in Boston on Feb. 18 and in Bedminster, NJ on Feb. 25 will focus on applications in the broader realms of life sciences and biotechnology. All three seminars are open without charge to members of the scientific community. See the agenda and sign up today.
Almac: Building Better Medicines
Almac, a contract pharmaceutical company, uses experimental design tools in JMP to test multiple formulation and manufacturing parameters and refine drug release profiles. This global pharma organization saves time and money for drug discovery companies and speeds the entrance of new medications to market.
Resolve to Join JMP® Users
Did you make a New Year's resolution to exercise your analytic muscle? To enhance your work performance? To examine best practices? Do all three at upcoming JMP Users Group meetings. You will hear from presenters who have applied analytics with great success and team up with fellow JMP users who are interested in benchmarking and networking. Groups in Seattle, Southern California, the Bay area and the North Carolina Triangle are scheduled to meet this month.
Get Technical with JMPer Cable
The new issue of the technical newsletter for JMP users - JMPer Cable - is out! Read it online to learn about tests of statistical significance, why some people love 3-D pie charts and how to perform a measurement linearity test. If you enjoy receiving JMPer Cable in the mail, be sure to subscribe to it. You'll find the subscription form by clicking the link at the top of the JMPer Cable Web page. In the future, only those who have subscribed will receive print copies.
Your Gateway to JMP®
The new JMP User Community portal puts you on the threshold of data discovery. Featuring the File Exchange, Discussion Forum and local users groups information, the page is designed to make peer interaction easy. You can also find information about maintenance and support, continued learning opportunities and a tip of the day. Bookmark this site as a favorite.
Live Webcast: Go Beyond Excel
Want to learn how to use JMP to tap the power of visual analytics to make sense of your spreadsheet data? Each month, JMP Product Manager Chuck Pirrello offers a lively, one-hour Webcast to show you how to use interactive graphs and real-time data animations to explore, discover and communicate trends and patterns in your data.
Climate Researcher Relies on JMP®
Peter Reich, PhD, a world-renowned ecologist and Regents Professor at the University of Minnesota, is helping shape a more environmentally sound future. For more than a decade, Reich has used JMP to investigate the interactive effects of elevated levels of carbon dioxide and nitrogen on plant species diversity. His research was published recently in Science magazine.
Start the Semester with JMP®
The short month of February offers seven chances to view live Webcasts specially designed for professors and students who need a quick start with JMP. Statisticians Mel Rush and Mia Stephens present topics on various dates with time for questions and answers.
Attend an Upcoming Explorers Seminar
The Explorers Series is back by popular demand in 2010. The seminars teach you how to map clear trends in your data and let your decisions follow; discover the path to product consistency and quality; and dig up clues to the meaning in your data. Seminars will be held in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York, Santa Fe, Seattle and the San Francisco Bay area. See the schedule of live events and Webcasts.
Accelerating Innovation with a Virtual Lab
Predictum - a consultancy based in Austin, Texas, and Toronto, Canada, and a JMP partner - helped a FORTUNE 500 company combine JMP and SAS to create a cutting-edge virtual lab for researchers to explore chemical formulations using predictive modeling. Scientists are expanding experimentation while cutting the experimental cycle from weeks to minutes. And the company saved substantial expense by adding JMP to existing SAS resources instead of building the virtual lab from scratch.
What? Visual Six Sigma?
Visual Six Sigma (VSS) is a creative process that employs visual techniques to discover new and useful knowledge that leads to quick, data-driven decisions. In their new book, Visual Six Sigma: Making Data Analysis Lean, a team of JMP-savvy authors provide case studies that illustrate how to use JMP for VSS.
Meet JMP® at Events Across Europe
Opportunities to learn about JMP and JMP Genomics abound this winter and spring across Europe. Join the inaugural JMP Genomics Tour in Heidelberg or Paris. Attend a JMP workshop or meet with JMP representatives at conferences in Edinburgh, Manchester, Brussels and Lisbon. You'll see for yourself how data analysis and visualization reveal outliers and patterns in huge volumes of data and increase efficiency while reducing costs.
Trimming the Fat Yields Lean Manufacturing
Led by Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Peter Blum, Kodak's Graphic Communications Group in the UK used JMP to condense data-analysis time for producing monthly reports on process lead times from two days to less than one hour. They also uncovered delays and discrepancies in production times, and reduced by half the production time spent on tasks that did not add value.
