JMP® 9 Is Nearly Here!
The latest version of the data visualization and analytics software you know and love starts shipping Oct. 12. With JMP 9, your analytic options continue to expand. You get powerful new ways of understanding, visualizing and communicating what your data is telling you. And when you make JMP your analytic hub, you can also leverage your other favorite tools, like SAS, Microsoft Excel and R. You can also incorporate geographic maps into your JMP visualizations. An updated interface on Microsoft Windows makes for a fresh user experience. And if you pre-order a single-user license of JMP 9 by Oct.11, you could get a discount of up to $300! Also, be sure to join us Oct. 12 for a live one-hour webcast on JMP 9.
Visualizing Patterns in Life Sciences Data
Data visualization brings clarity and context to all types of life sciences data. See how at any of the five seminars scheduled this month in the following US cities: Indianapolis; San Francisco; Carlsbad, CA; Cambridge, MA; Edison, NJ. We'll be showcasing not only JMP 9 software, but also JMP Clinical and JMP Genomics - newer members of the JMP product family customized for specific research areas. You'll see how data visualization can shorten the path to discovery, whether your focus is manufacturing, discovery research, pre-clinical or clinical development. These events are open without charge to members of the scientific community.
Discovery Summit 2010 Recap
More than 300 attendees convened at SAS World Headquarters in Cary, NC, last month for Discovery Summit 2010. They met keynote speaker Dan Ariely, author of Predictably Irrational and The Upside of Irrationality. They heard from John Sall, co-founder and Executive Vice President of SAS, on the delights of JMP 9. They dined at the NC Museum of Art. They questioned panelists about how to spread analytics throughout their organizations. They swapped best practices, shared proven statistical techniques and networked with other JMP users. Review the event coverage.
Safeguarding the Skies
Analysts expect significant growth in air travel in the immediate future. In response to the anticipated demand, efforts to enhance safety have moved into high gear with a series of unprecedented
global initiatives. As air traffic control systems employ more automation and takeoffs increase, the Federal Aviation Administration uses JMP to retrieve and examine millions of pieces of data from its air traffic control systems around the globe, mining the data gathered from previous flights to make future ones safer.
View John Sall's On-Demand Webinar
Don't worry if you missed the live webcast John Sall, chief architect of JMP, did on visualization of data and models in August. You can watch the whole webinar on demand! Through the use of compelling examples, Sall shows how visualizations help you spot trends and patterns in your data more efficiently; how to incorporate geographic maps into your data analysis; how to explore
your data with drag-and-drop graphs; and how to use visualization techniques to validate your statistical models.
Getting Started with JMP® Clinical
This white paper demonstrates how JMP Clinical 2.1 streamlines safety reviews during clinical trials. Using a pivotal study of the treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhages with the drug Nicardipine, this paper shows how JMP Clinical assures simplified drug safety analysis backed by statistically rigorous screening of all safety domains. Graphics and text illustrate each step of the analysis process and show how intuitive dashboards in JMP Clinical create reports that can be shared easily by various groups of reviewers.
Show Data Visualization to a Friend
You've seen the power of visually analyzing quantitative business information. Now share it with a friend who is interested in analytics. Learn how to spot trends in your data that you can act on immediately. Register for Exploring Predictive Analytics and Data Visualization with Stephen Few, and you'll both enjoy a complimentary day of demonstrations and dialogue. November seminars will be held in Boston, Philadelphia, Indianapolis and Portland, OR.
Why Is My Office So Cold?
Is your workplace like ours, with some offices too cold and others warmer? The JMP team decided to explore this situation - using JMP, of course! Follow this five-part series in the JMP Blog as Audrey Ventura, from the JMP testing group, describes the observational study she led - starting with designing the study, then collecting and cleaning the data, and ending with analyzing and visualizing the data.
Improve Processes with Reliability
Find out how process improvement and visual analytics can save time and money, even for complex problems involving huge numbers of variables. Whether your focus is oil and gas, energy services, petrochemicals or supplying those industries, you can save money by enhancing process efficiencies and by improving the reliability of products and data. Attend one of the complimentary seminars on reliability or Lean Six Sigma in Houston, Nov. 8-11.
Join JMP and SAS at PhUSE 2010
Visit the SAS booth at this pharma technology development conference in Germany and meet JMP Clinical, new software from SAS that can shorten the drug development process. JMP Clinical dynamically links advanced statistics and graphics, streamlining safety reviews during clinical trials. It helps clinicians migrate into the modern review environment by creating reports from standard CDISC data, the global standard. PhUSE takes place Oct. 17-20 in Berlin.
Kodak Achieves Zero Defects
The Kodak Film Capture Manufacturing team used JMP to find the source of a very low level of contamination generated in Kodak's clean manufacturing facility in the production of motion picture film. A Kodak manufacturing engineer easily manipulated data generated by millions of images taken of the production process, enabling his team to identify the cause of the problem and correct it - resulting in zero defects in a 12-month period.
Looking for Guidance? Join a Users Group
Users groups are an excellent way to help you get the most value from your JMP software. Join one and you will learn about new capabilities, ways to improve your analytic productivity, how your peers are solving problems and more. With the anticipated release of JMP 9 on Oct. 12, now is a good time to start benchmarking and networking. Find a users group near you.
SAS Hosts Army Conference on
The Army Conference on Applied Statistics (ACAS), dedicated to advancing the use of probability and statistics in solving defense problems, will be held Oct. 20-22 at SAS World Headquarters in Cary, NC. Douglas Montgomery, PhD, Regents' Professor
of Industrial Engineering and Statistics at Arizona State University and Bradley Jones, PhD, JMP Principal Research Fellow at SAS, will conduct a pre-conference short course on experimental design. J. Stuart Hunter, PhD, a pioneer in industrial experimental design and formerly a leading consultant for many industries and government agencies, will deliver a keynote talk on the history of experimental design.
