General FAQs

Can I use JMP software to open StatView files?

You cannot use JMP software to open StatView datasets directly. You must first save your StatView dataset as a delimited text file, an Excel file, or a SAS transport file. However, it is recommended that you save your data as an Excel file because all numeric precision is retained. When saving to a text file, only the digits shown on the display will be saved to the text file. When saving to a SAS transport file, there is an 8 character limit for column names.

To save a dataset in one of the these formats within StatView, select Save As from the File menu, and then choose the desired format for the Save as type field.

You should also note that you cannot use JMP software to open StatView views.
