Learning at Every Level: Advancing Your JMP Skills

JMP Learning Strategy Manager Julian Parris loves many things about JMP. Can you guess what he loves most? We won't tell you here, but you can find out in his new blog post, "Free learning resources to take your JMP skills forward."

Parris offers ways to learn JMP at each level of your experience, guiding you through five learning stages, from brand-new user to JMP master.

For example, here are some resources for a user who uses JMP every now and then, and considers herself knowledgeable about using JMP, but doesn't yet feel like an expert.

  1. Attend Mastering JMP webinars, ask questions, and try everything you see in the webinar with your own data. If you can’t make a particular webinar, then watch some on demand.
  2. Learn new analyses and procedures with the materials in the JMP Learning Library, which is a collection of short two- to five-minute videos as well as printable PDF guides that step through more than 80 common procedures in JMP.
  3. Learn (or refresh) your knowledge of statistics by signing up for our free online course, Statistical Thinking for Industrial Problem Solving. Not only will you get a better understanding of the statistical methods you’re applying, but you’ll pick up new JMP skills in the nearly 100 JMP demonstration videos.

That's just an example. No matter where you are in your JMP journey, we're here to help. Are you ready to level up? See all of the recommended resources to do so here.

Statistical thinking: Making decisions with your data

You've collected some sample data – that's great! But now what? The latest module in our free online statistical thinking course, Decision Making With Data, shows you how to draw valid inferences from sample data for your analyses.

Decision Making With Data covers statistical testing and decision making, interval estimates for estimating population parameters and the role of sample size in the precision of your interval estimates and the power of your statistical tests.

Statistical Thinking for Industrial Problem Solving is available for anyone interested in building practical skills in using data to solve problems better.

Have you tried...

...using value labels for more informative data labels? Raw data is often coded in a non-informative way, for example, coding gender with "M" for male and "F" for female. For more descriptive labels, use Value Labels in JMP. To add value labels: 1) Right-click a column name, 2) click Column Info, 3) click the Column Properties button, 4) select Value Labels, and 5) enter the value and associated label for each value label.

You can also watch this video to see how to create value labels.

See JMP Tips and Tricks for more short videos on using JMP.
