Outliers in your data

If you're looking at data on a regular basis, you have likely run across outliers—those numeric readings that don’t fall within the normal pattern of your data. Outliers affect the outcomes of your analyses, which is why you need to quickly identify them and deal with them appropriately. One of the easiest ways to identify outliers is visually. JMP Systems Engineer Jerry Fish walks through examples of how to do this effectively in his latest blog post, "Outliers Episode 1: The elusive outlier described, visually identified, and judged."

Have you tried...

...rearranging the order of values on your graph axes? With your data open, right-click the column header, go down to Column Properties and select Value Order. Move the values into the order you'd like them displayed and click Apply. Watch this short video to see how to change the order of values on your graph axes.
