About the Presenters
Wenjun Bao,
Chief Scientist and Director of Advanced Analytics R&D
Wenjun Bao is Chief Scientist and Director of Advanced Analytics R&D in the Life Sciences division of JMP Statistical Discovery, a subsidiary of SAS that provides interactive and highly visual statistical discovery software to scientists and engineers. Bao has extensive experience in the clinical, bioinformatics, biochemistry, and molecular biology fields. She has been a research grant review committee member for NIH since 2005 and research advisor for scientists at numerous universities and government agencies around the world. Bao is also an adjunct professor at Fudan University and a CDISC board member. Prior to joining JMP, Bao was a Research Scientist with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and a Research Assistant Professor at Duke University. She holds her Ph.D. from Oregon Health and Science University.
Andrea Coombs,
Principal Systems Engineer
As a Principal Systems Engineer, Andrea Coombs supports customer development and sales for some of JMP’s biggest customers. Coombs has more than 20 years of experience in applied analytics in several industries, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmaceutical R&D, and agricultural research. She holds undergraduate and graduate degree in life sciences from Michigan State University. Prior to joining JMP, Andrea served as Senior Industry Consultant for SAS, Senior Data Administrator for the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and Senior Manager of Manufacturing Science and Technology at Emergent Biosolutions.
Richard Zink,
Principal Research Fellow
Richard C. Zink is Principal Research Fellow at JMP Statistical Discovery, where he identifies, researches, and overcomes obstacles in the medical product and life science industries. He has spent 20+ years contributing statistical thinking and analytical prowess in and around medical product development to address unmet medical need, streamline the interpretation and communication of data, accelerate the review of patient safety, and enhance data quality. Zink is Associate Editor for the DIA journal Therapeutic Innovation & Regulatory Science, where he has served for more than 10 years. He was the 2019 Chair of the Biopharmaceutical Section of the American Statistical Association, and former host of the Biopharmaceutical Section Statistics Podcast where he recorded 100 episodes over a 10-year period. Zink is author, editor, and contributor to nine books on statistical topics in clinical trials and clinical research. He holds a Ph.D. in biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he serves as Adjunct Professor of Biostatistics. Zink was awarded the distinction of Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2020.
