As organizations collect increasing amounts of complex process and analytical data, there is a growing need to understand how measurements evolve across time, space, or other continuous domains. JMP’s Functional Data Explorer (FDE) provides a powerful framework for analyzing entire curves and profiles rather than individual data points, helping uncover patterns, sources of variation, and relationships that might otherwise remain hidden.
Functional data is common across many industries and applications, including spectroscopy, chromatography, temperature profiles, sensor signals, dissolution curves, stability studies, and other time- or wavelength-dependent measurements. During this event, we explore how FDE can be used to gain deeper process understanding, to identify critical drivers, to monitor performance, and to support data-driven decision making.
Throughout the session, customers and industry experts share practical use cases demonstrating how functional data analysis can transform complex data sets into actionable insights and accelerate learning across manufacturing, research, and development environments.

Ferrosan and NNE: Ferrosan Oven Qualification
This session shows how JMP’s Functional Data Explorer (FDE) was used in a real Ferrosan project to analyze temperature curves from industrial ovens.
Using data from multiple sensors inside the ovens, the temperature profiles were treated as curves and analyzed with JMP's FDE to understand how temperatures are distributed and how they develop over time. The model also allowed a better understanding of the effect of different process settings and other relevant factors on the temperature curves.
The results were then used as part of the oven qualification process.
