Using Geographic Maps
Presenter: Olivia Lippincott
Using Map Shape Files Included with JMP
The presenter uses data about California Farmers’ Markets to show how to add map shapes to analyses built using Graph Builder. She uses map files shipped with JMP and zip code maps available from the JMP File exchange. She shows how to customize the appearance of the map and selectively identify and label regions of interest.
Mapping by Latitude and Longitude
The presenter uses data about reports of blocked driveways in New York City to show how to create Graph Builder and Bubble Plot background maps using longitudinal and latitudinal data that she obtained using the Geocoding Place Names Add-In. She creates a heat map overlay to show density of reported blocked driveways. She creates a Bubble Plot that animates blocked driveways by the time of day, and then saves the Bubble Plot as interactive html for viewing interactively by people who do not have JMP.
Importing, Preparing and Storing Custom Shape Files
The presenter uses data about Washington, DC unemployment data to show how to use public shape files to add maps to JMP. She describes the purpose of the .shp and .dbf files and how to easily edit the data table, name files and store files in the correct directory.
