The Rise of Epidemic Forecasting & Multi-View Analysis
Keynote
Why epidemic forecasting and multi-view analysis matters
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, much has come to light. We don’t always have ideal data to effectively track and forecast infectious disease. We don’t yet fully appreciate all the information we might glean from -omics data (e.g., genomics, proteomics). Thankfully, some brilliant minds are bringing creative problem-solving skills to bear, contributing valuable progress.
In this Statistically Speaking, award-winning father-son duo Dr. Robert Tibshirani and Dr. Ryan Tibshirani discuss the challenges and opportunities of epidemic tracking and forecasting, as well as the challenges of multi-view analysis in biology and medicine.
What you’ll learn:
- The importance of connecting methods to practical applications.
- Why epidemic tracking is increasingly relevant to scientists.
- Mitigation of the effects of epidemics and pandemics on public health through forecasting.
- Approaches to multi-view statistical problems
