Rachel Smith leads the legal team at JMP Statistical Discovery LLC, that provides interactive and highly visual statistical discovery software designed for scientists and engineers. As General Counsel, Rachel advises JMP's Sales, Marketing, Information Technology, Compliance and R&D teams in all legal matters, including risk exposure, product strategy, future growth and building long-term business relationships.
Prior to joining JMP, Rachel was a Principal Legal Counsel for SAS Institute Inc. In this role, Rachel served as a commercial transactional attorney for the Financial Services Business Unit, drafting, structuring and negotiating commercial agreements with some of SAS’ largest customers.
Before joining SAS, Rachel was an Associate at Paul Hastings LLP, where she provided legal counsel to public and private companies in a wide range of corporate transactional matters, focusing primarily on mergers and acquisitions and commercial agreements.
Rachel is a graduate of the University of North Carolina’s School of Law and holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Kansas.
