Analyzing Curve Data with JMP

Quality Tools for Process Improvement Methodologies

Many scientists and engineers have data that are represented by a curve, and using curves in analysis is challenging. Curves are often summarized into a few parameters for analysis. However, parameterizing a curve can be difficult, time-consuming, and most of the data is left behind. In today’s workplace, doing more with less is critical; luckily, JMP can help.

We’ll learn more about analyzing two types of curves: curves that can be described by a formula and curves that need to be described with a flexible fit.

Examples of curves that can be described with a formula include:

  • dose response curves
  • enzyme kinetics
  • growth and decay curves
  • pharmacokinetics

Examples of curves that need to be described with a more flexible fit include:

  • complex growth curves
  • chromatograms
  • spectroscopy (NIR, NMR, and Raman)
  • manufacturing sensor data over time

In this webinar, you’ll learn how tools in JMP will help you better understand the variation in the shape of curves and how to use curves in Design of Experiments and modeling to better understand how input variables effect the shape of curves.

About the Presenters

Andrea Coombs, JMP Statistical Discovery

Andrea Coombs supports customer development and sales in the Ohio Valley region as Senior Systems Engineer for JMP. Coombs has over 20 years of experience in applied analytics in the life science industry.

Coombs spent the first eight years of her career at Michigan State University, where she conducted agricultural research using design of experiments (DOE) and statistical modeling.

Coombs later joined Emergent BioSolutions, where she held a variety of roles, gaining wide-ranging expertise in vaccine manufacturing from process development to GMP commercial manufacturing using Quality by Design (QbD) approaches including DOE, continuous process verification and process and analytical technology. Leading a team of manufacturing science and technology scientists, she also served as lead on several continuous improvement projects and manufacturing investigations, and oversaw an at-scale pilot plant.

Prior to joining JMP, Coombs served as Senior Industry Consultant for SAS.
