Negative Control Method

Select the method to use for computing the negative normalization factor.

In negative control normalization, also known as background correction, the background level is calculated as an aggregate summary of six to eight control probes with no target transcript. The calculated background level for each sample is then subtracted from the adjusted probe value.

The methods available for this process are summarized in the following table:

Method	Description
Mean+2Std	The factor used for normalization is the mean + 2 standard deviations of the negative controls for each sample.
Mean	The factor used for normalization is the arithmetic mean of the negative controls for each sample.
Max	The factor used for normalization is the maximum value observed for the negative controls for each sample.

To Specify the Method to Use for Computing the Normalization Factor:

Select Negative Control for the Control Gene Normalization.

Click the Negative Control Method drop-down menu.

Click the desired method.
