Gene By Variables

Use this field to specify the variable in the Gene Input SAS Data Set corresponding to the Annotation SAS Data Set By Variables specified on the General tab.

To Specify One or More Gene By Variables:

Specify the Gene Input SAS Data Set.

All of the variables in the specified data set are displayed in the Available Variables field.

Examine the list of available variables.

Highlight the variable(s) containing the By variables. To select multiple variables at once, hold down Ctrl while left-clicking.

Click to add the highlighted variable(s) to the Gene By Variables field, as shown below:

Important: The BY variables' values from both the annotation and gene input data sets must match. For example, if Chromosome is selected as a By Variable, there must be a variable with the same values (though not necessarily the same name) in the Gene data set that you specify here.
