Phil Kay, PhD, is a Systems Engineer for JMP, a business unit of SAS. He is interested in empowering people to drive improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes through the use of statistical tools, in particular, the application of design of experiments methodology to R&D.
Previously, Kay worked for Fujifilm Imaging Colorants, where he was a key scientist in the development of numerous processes for the manufacture of colorants for digital printing. Kay began his career as a development chemist, later becoming a data scientist as his interest in the application of statistical tools grew. At Fujifilm, he was responsible for helping colleagues across the business to obtain better data and make better use of it through training, coaching and consultation.
Kay has a master’s degree and a PhD in chemistry from the University of Edinburgh and is a Royal Society of Chemistry Chartered Chemist. He is currently studying for a post-graduate certificate in quantitative methods at Lancaster University.
