Columns Manager Red Triangle Menu Options

The Columns Manager red triangle contains the following options:

Show Statistics

Displays summary statistics for each column, including Min, Max, N Missing, N Unique, a Distribution graph, and All Integers. Character columns have Distribution and All Integers only. This option is selected by default.

Show Attributes

Displays column attributes. This option is selected by default.

Show Properties

Displays column properties. This option is selected by default.

Hide Excluded Columns

Hides columns that have the excluded flag. This option is selected by default.

Columns excluded since the Columns Manager has been opened still appear in the column list. Deselect and reselect the Hide Excluded Columns option or close and reopen the Columns Manager to hide them.

Hide Hidden Columns

Hides columns that have the hidden flag. This option is selected by default.

Columns hidden since the Columns Manager has been opened still appear in the column list. Deselect and reselect the Hide Excluded Columns option or close and reopen the Columns Manager to hide them.

Force calculations for all numeric columns

Specifies whether to calculate numeric statistics for all numeric columns. This option is deselected by default.

When selected, Columns Manager calculates the following statistics by default:

For Continuous columns: N Unique

For Nominal columns: Min and Max

Force calculations for all categorical columns

Specifies whether to calculate statistics for all categorical columns. This option is deselected by default.

When selected, Columns Manager calculates the following statistics by default:

For Unstructured Text columns: N Missing and N Unique

For None type columns: N Unique

Create Data Dictionary

Creates a detailed summary of the attributes, description, data info, and properties for each column in the data table as a JMP Journal. See “Create Journals”.

Choose Columns

Determines which columns the data dictionary summarizes.

All

Summarizes all columns from the data table, including hidden and excluded columns.

All Shown

Summarizes only the columns that are shown in the Columns Manager, excluding hidden or excluded columns.

Selected

Summarizes only the columns that are selected in the Columns Manager.

Categorical Options

Specifies the options for categorical columns.

Choose Stats

Specifies the summary statistics that are included.

Show Unique Values

Displays the number of unique values that are specified by Max Levels for each column.

Show occurrences per value

Available only when Show Unique Values is selected. Displays the number of occurrences of the unique values for each column.

Max Levels

Specifies how many unique values to display.

Continuous Options

Specifies the options for continuous columns.

Choose Stats

Specifies the summary statistics that are included.

Properties

Specifies the column properties that are included.

Formula

Displays the formula that is used for any formula columns. See “Create Formulas in JMP”.

List Check

Displays the list check used to validate the data in a column.

Value Labels

Displays value labels.

Value Scores

Displays the value-score pairs for the column.

Aliases

Displays any aliases available for column names.

Preview

Displays a preview of the data dictionary that will be created with the selected settings.
