Contour Profiler Platform Options

The Contour Profiler red triangle menu contains the following options:

Grid Density

Sets the density of the individual mesh plots or surface plots.

Graph Updating

Contains options to change the frequency of updates for the graph. (The difference might not be noticeable on a fast machine.) The following two options are available:

Per Mouse Move

Updates the graph continuously as you drag the mouse. This is the default setting.

Per Mouse Up

Updates the graph each time the mouse button is released.

Surface Plot

Shows or hides the individual mesh plots.

Contour Label

Shows or hides the name of the response variables as labels on the contour profiler. The label colors match the contour colors.

Contour Grid

Opens a window that enables you to specify contour intervals for a response column. When you click OK, a contour grid is drawn on the profiler. The grid is based on the specified intervals. The window contains the following options:

Filled Contours

Colors the contour levels. If there is only one response, the contours are filled by a color gradient. If there are multiple responses, each response has a color and the contours are filled with different values of transparency. This option is selected by default.

Reverse Scale

Reverses the color gradient or the transparency values.

Specify Clipping Ellipse/Circle

When you select this option and click OK, a window opens that enables you to specify a clipping region. This option is available only if you have not already specified a clipping region. See Clipping.

Remove Contour Grid

Removes the contour grid from the profiler.

Factor Settings

Provides a submenu of commands that enables you to save and transfer the Contour Profiler’s settings to other parts of JMP. See “Factor Settings”.

Simulator

Shows or hides the Simulator. See “Simulator”.

Up Dots

Shows or hides dots next to the contour lines. The dotted lines indicate the upward direction of the response values.

Set Contours to Current

Resets the contour lines to be where the current Y values are located. This means that all contour lines cross where the crosshairs are on the contour plot and the controls agree in the Y sliders.

Arrange X Controls Left

Rearranges the X and Y controls horizontally with the X controls on the left. Deselecting this option moves the X controls back to the top of the report.

Hide X Controls

Shows or hides the control settings for the factors.

Hide Y Controls

Shows or hides the control settings for the responses.

Data Points

Shows or hides the individual data points in the Contour Profiler plot.

Clipping

Opens a window that enables you to specify a circular clipping region. This clips the filled specified contours into a circular or elliptical shape, but does not affect the current contour and limit lines. You can specify the center of the region and both the horizontal and vertical width. If you have not already specified a contour grid, there is an option that opens the Contour Grid window once you click OK.

Multiple Contour Frames

Enables you to add one or more contour plots to the report that represent different combinations of factor settings. When you select this option, the Multiple Contour Frames window appears. Use the window to specify additional individual contour plots or a matrix of contour plots. You can specify a lower triangular, upper triangular, or full square matrix of contour frames. By default, the new contour plots are added to the current contour plots in the report. Click the Remove previous frames check box to remove the current contour plots and replace them with your new selections.
