Use the Tolerance Interval option in the Distribution platform to show intervals that contain at least a specified proportion of the population. It is an interval estimate for a specified proportion of the population. Complete discussions of tolerance intervals are found in Meeker et al. (2017) and in Tamhane and Dunlop (2000).
When you select the Tolerance Interval option for a variable, the Tolerance Intervals window appears. Specify the confidence level, the proportion to cover, a one-sided or two-sided limit, and the distribution. Select the Nonparametric Distribution for distribution-free tolerance intervals. When it is not possible to compute the requested nonparametric tolerance interval, the best interval and corresponding confidence are reported.
Note: When you specify the Normal Distribution, the value of k used for the intervals is contained in the report table. To view the value, in the Tolerance Intervals report, right-click the table and select Columns > K-factor.
The Tolerance Intervals red triangle menu contains an option to save the tolerance interval as a Spec Limits column property, to save the distribution as a column property, and an option to remove the Tolerance Intervals report.
