Michael Cramer leads a corporate group of analysts providing decision support for McDonald’s Global Restaurant Solutions, serving 34,000 restaurants in 118 global markets. His team’s work includes predictive modeling, predictive analysis, video ethnography and data mining. Before joining McDonald’s five years ago, Cramer spent eight years as the CLO for Hub One Logistics. He also worked for Kellogg’s in Logistics and Competitive Intelligence, and for Tompkins Associates, an engineering consulting and implementation firm. He is a member of the Council of Logistics Management, INFORMS and the INFORMS Roundtable. He graduated in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from North Carolina State University.
Lynn Dickey, PhD, has over 30 years of experience in biochemical and molecular research. Her current position is Vice President of Research and Technology Development at Biolex Therapeutics, a recombinant therapeutic protein development and manufacturing company based on the use of Lemna as the expression system. She joined Biolex with the founding team with an initial focus on optimizing the Lemna transformation and expression system. Currently, Dickey directs research and development activities including product development projects, line development, early process development, analytical development, further system optimization and development of other enabling technologies. Previous to joining Biolex, Dickey was an Assistant Professor at North Carolina State University, where she led a research program concerning the molecular biology of gene expression in transgenic plants.
Ed Hutchins is the Product Engineering Manager in the Materials Division of Cree in Research Triangle Park, NC, an innovator and manufacturer of semiconductors that enhance the value of LED solid-state lighting, power and communications products by significantly increasing their energy performance. Hutchins’ specific role focuses on the manufacture of the common element in these diverse products, known as silicon carbide (SiC) wafers. He’s happy to be doing the type of work he studied as a materials science and engineering major at Cornell University. Hutchins has been using JMP extensively in his job for about nine years, and realizes that if he applied JMP to his personal life as much as he does to his professional, he might actually be a successful investor.

Stanley Koprowski is a member of the Preclinical Research Biostatistics and Scientific Information Solutions (SIS) department at sanofi-aventis. He has successfully planned and executed corporate technology solutions for FORTUNE 500® companies and has international business experience in France, Germany, UK and Japan. He is the current chair of the Northeast Pharma JMP® Users Group.
His teams have designed and deployed iLINK, a worldwide "first-of-its-kind" clinical data integration environment, contributed to the development of PH.Kinetics™ software from SAS, and created pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic and other data integration environments for support of modeling and simulation activities.
Koprowski's research interests include application of technology to warehouse scientific data, in-silico approaches to rational drug development, workflow modeling and business process optimization. He is a member of both the Project Management Institute and International Institute of Business Analysis. He has been a SAS® programmer for more than 10 years and a JMP programmer for more than five years.
He has published several articles in the International Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Prior to joining sanofi-aventis, Koprowski directed the data warehousing department for DuPont Pharmaceuticals.
Don Lifke is a senior member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. Lifke is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, and serves on Sandia’s Lean Six Sigma Council. His current assignment is in manufacturing operations engineering. He also teaches the statistics modules for the corporate Black Belt and Green Belt training programs.
Lifke’s experience includes employers such as AlliedSignal, US Department of Energy, Medtronic, and Emcore. He also teaches business statistics courses at the University of Phoenix.
Lifke received his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from the University of New Mexico.
Di Michelson has been a statistician in the semiconductor industry since receiving her PhD from Texas A&M University in 1994. She currently works for SEMATECH in Austin, Texas, and has been a JMP user since version 3.2. Her research interests include statistical process control, design and analysis of industrial experiments and statistical programming.
Daniel Obermiller is a Six Sigma Technology Leader for The Dow Chemical Co. He has been with Dow since 1990 holding a variety of positions. He has been a consulting statistician for the entire company and has had stints focused on supporting R&D, consumer products, and emulsion polymers. Obermiller has been the statistical software contact for Dow since joining the company. Specifically, he has been the JMP Product Manager for Dow since 1992 and was responsible for JMP being named Dow’s global statistical software standard in 1998. He has also co-written a JMP companion guide for Statistical Methods for Engineers by Geoff Vining.
Obermiller has been involved with Dow’s Six Sigma effort since its inception in 1999, starting as a Master Black Belt before becoming a Technology Leader for Six Sigma. He has coached over 200 successful projects and certified over 150 Green Belts and Black Belts. His efforts in Six Sigma have helped Dow deliver over $1 billion yearly in Six Sigma savings.
Obermiller received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from John Carroll University in Cleveland, and a master’s of applied statistics from The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.
Jeff Perkinson is a Product Manager for JMP statistical discovery software from SAS. He began working with the first version of JMP in 1989, when he joined SAS. Before assuming his current role, he worked in SAS Technical Support and at SouthPeak Interactive, a SAS subsidiary that produced video games.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Perkinson received Six Sigma Black Belt training at NC State University.
A former professor from the Air Force Academy, Heath Rushing holds a master's degree in operations research from the Air Force Institute of Technology and has used JMP since 2001. After teaching at the Academy, Rushing was a quality engineer and Six Sigma Black Belt in both biopharmaceutical manufacturing and R&D where he designed and delivered training material in Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) using JMP. In addition, he has been a symposium speaker at both national and international pharma and medical device conferences. Rushing is an American Society of Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer. He is a triathlete and avid skier and loves to travel. He resides in Colorado with his Weimaraner, Newby, named after female triathlete Paula Newby-Fraser. Rushing is a co-founder and principal consultant of Adsurgo LLC, a company specializing in advanced analytics consulting services and training for enhanced business performance.
John Sall is a co-founder and Executive Vice President of SAS, the world’s largest privately held software company. He leads the JMP business division, which creates interactive and highly visual data analysis software for the desktop and provides a visual interface to SAS. Sall was elected a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 1998. He serves on the board of The Nature Conservancy and is a member of the North Carolina State University (NCSU) Board of Trustees. He received a bachelor's degree in history from Beloit College in Beloit, WI, and a master's degree in economics from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Sall studied graduate-level statistics at NCSU, which awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2003.
Deanna Starbuck is a Production Engineer for Aera Energy LLC. Aera is one of California's largest oil and gas producers, accounting for approximately 30 percent of the state's production. With headquarters in Bakersfield, most of Aera's production is centered in the San Joaquin Valley. The company also has oilfield operations in the LA Basin and in Ventura and Monterey counties. Deanna is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in business administration.
Manny Uy is a member of the principal professional staff at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He obtained his PhD in physical chemistry from Case Western Reserve University, and held postdoctoral fellowships at Rice University and the Free University of Brussels. He joined JHU/APL in 1981, where he has held several positions, including Performance Assurance Supervisor for Spacecraft Systems, Quality Manager for Microelectronics and Materials Laboratory Manager. He also teaches statistics and design of experiments for APL professionals. Before joining JHU/APL, he was a senior scientist for advanced programs at the General Electric Co. Lamp Business Division at Nela Park in Cleveland, where he specialized in advanced lamp designs and optimization of the manufacturing processes. He has published over 100 papers, has 10 patents, and is an expert in the area of spacecraft contamination, sensors systems and reliability. Uy is a member of Sigma Xi, the American Chemical Society, the Royal Chemistry Society, the Society of Photo-Optical and Instrumentation Engineers, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Cy Wegman is the Empirical Modeling and Simulation Leader for the Modeling and Simulation Global Capability Organization in Procter & Gamble. Wegman has been an employee at P&G for 32 years and his career has included assignments and projects in manufacturing, engineering, and research and development. He has extensive experience and expertise in tissue and towel processes and products and is a thought leader in empirical modeling and optimization techniques in P&G. His first 10 years were in P&G’s Green Bay, WI, manufacturing facility. After transferring to Cincinnati in 1986 he focused on design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control in the Family Care Global Business Unit. During that time, he also worked on brand initiatives, process startups, material supply, reliability and quality control. In 1996 Wegman moved to Corporate Modeling and Simulation where he still works. Wegman’s current emphasis is on developing and implementing formulation modeling in P&G. He also develops and delivers empirical modeling training courses for all P&G engineers and scientists. Wegman graduated in 1977 from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
