Known Issues

Following are known issues or problem alerts for the current release of JMP. For information on other JMP issues, see the JMP Knowledge Base and FAQs.

Don’t Forget to Set Your Clocks – And Your Scripts – Forward in March

Have you written any JSL scripts that incorporate Daylight Saving Time? If so, you’ll want to make adaptations to scripts to take into account changes set by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. Per the change, Daylight Saving Time will begin this year at 2:00 a.m., Sunday, March 11, as opposed to previous years when it began in April. The new Daylight Saving Time schedule calls for clocks to revert to standard time at 3:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of November rather than on the last Sunday in October.

Unless you’ve written scripts that take into account Daylight Saving Time, you don’t need to worry about the change. "JMP itself won't be affected by the time change because it gets the time from the operating system on all three hosts," explains Richard Potter, Director of Research and Development for JMP. "However, if a user has written a JSL script that assumes, for example, that Daylight Saving Time starts on the first Sunday in April, then such a JSL script will be in error."

If you use Microsoft Windows, we advise you to install the Daylight Savings Time update available at www.microsoft.com. To make sure JMP is using the latest operating system modules, please delete MSVCRT.DLL in your JMP installation directory and reboot your machine to ensure that you are getting the updated Microsoft module.

Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update Corrects Defect in Apple's Rosetta Emulation

October 5, 2006

The Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update addresses the defect in Apple's Rosetta emulation. JMP 6 is now supported for use on Intel-based Macintosh hardware with Mac OS X 10.4.8 and higher.

All JMP users with Intel-based Macintosh hardware should apply the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update from Apple to ensure correct numeric calculations.

The Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update can be downloaded from the Apple website.
